MW4 pre-orders add an early beta path

Activision’s Modern Warfare 4 pre-order guide gives players the clearest early look at how beta access will work for the 2026 Call of Duty cycle. Digital pre-orders are positioned as the simplest route: eligible players receive Open Beta Early Access automatically on the platform account used to buy the game.

Physical pre-orders work differently. Activision says players who reserve a physical copy through participating retailers should receive a beta code, which then needs to be redeemed before early beta access becomes available. That makes retailer participation and code delivery important details for disc buyers.

The guide also indicates that beta access is not locked entirely behind a purchase. Non-preorder players are still expected to be able to join during the open portion of the beta, while pre-order customers get the earlier entry window.

For players deciding whether to pre-order, the main value is timing rather than exclusive permanent content. Competitive players, Warzone regulars, and anyone planning to test multiplayer performance early may benefit most from beta early access, while casual players can likely wait for the open beta period before committing.
