DBD beginner systems guide
Dead by Daylight is built around asymmetric trials where four Survivors try to repair generators and escape while one Killer hunts them down.
Beginner systems to understand:
- Survivors focus on repairing generators, healing, rescuing teammates, looping the Killer, and escaping through exit gates or hatch.
- Killers pressure generators, chase Survivors, hook them, and use power-specific tools to control the trial.
- Bloodpoints are the general progression currency used to buy unlockables from each character’s Bloodweb.
- Perks are core loadout abilities for both Survivors and Killers.
- Add-ons improve a Killer power or Survivor item and can be equipped in pairs.
- Offerings are consumed before a trial to influence maps, rewards, hooks, chests, luck, Bloodpoints, or event mechanics.
A good beginner content cluster should explain one system at a time: first roles and objectives, then Bloodpoints and Bloodwebs, then Perks/Add-ons/Offerings, and finally starter builds.
